ASA Bans Online Sports Book’s Advertisement
The ASA recently banned a poster advertisement created by the popular bookie website, requestabet, to advertise wagering. This is not the first time the ASA has banned an advertisement that was created by an online website. The banned ad came in poster form and targeted football fans. The ad suggested that fans should ‘beat the city boys at their own game’ by betting on the requestabet website. Like many other online websites that have had their ads banned, the requestabet ad was only complained about one time. But one time seems to be enough for the ASA to shut down the advertisements.
The ASA commented in a statement: “Because the ad stated “With: Inflation eating away at savings… Why not try an alternative method', we considered the ad presented gambling as an alternative form of investment to bank savings. We concluded the ad was misleading and irresponsible.”
