Brothers Plead Guilty in Sports Gambling Case
Brothers, Michael and Anthony Sansone, the grandsons of a Kansas City organized crime boss, have pleaded guilty to operating an illegal sports gambling operation. Both were in court on Friday on charges for their roles in an internet betting operation. The boy’s grandfather, Anthony Civella, was the leader of the operation for many years after his uncle Nick Civella passed away. The Sansones brought the family business to the internet which made the group current.
Two more men pled guilty earlier this month and they admitted to the same thing the Sansone brothers did. They all operated a betting business that used a toll free telephone number and a website. Both were routed in Costa Rica to process illegal wagers on sporting events. The gambling operation had been under federal investigation for at least a year before those involved were arrested.
