The state of Michigan is looking to add sports betting to their state. Michigan joins a long list of states that are looking to add various gambling options to help raise revenues and much needed funds. A local organization is working to help add the option to various casinos.

Michigan is Yours is a local organization which is backing a proposal to allow additional casinos to the state of Michigan. The state currently has twenty two casinos and the proposal will see the state adding seven additional casinos.

The proposal must have more than 380,000 signatures before July 5th for it to make the voting ballet. If the petition gets enough signatures it will be added to the ballet. If approved, sports betting will be added to the casinos of the state.

The group commented they will be using some of the tax revenue from the gambling to help pay for college scholarships and promote tourism in the state. In Michigan gambling expansions require local and statewide votes unless they are under the Indian Casino umbrella.
