New Sports Betting Scandal Arises from Kings employee
The NBA is having a tough time when it comes to scandal. First there was the sports’ betting scandal with Tim Donaghy the referee, which the NBA Commissioner said was a onetime deal. Now the NBA has been subject to another scandal, this time with a former Sacramento Kings employee.

The Sacramento Kings assistant director of scouting, Jack Mai, is now barred from the league for betting on sporting events. A report was released by Yahoo! Sports which stated that the NBA informed clubs that Mai was permanently banned from working with a member team because he had bet on NBA games.

The betting was only for small amounts between Mai and friends and no use of influence in corrupting games had been found according to the NBA. Mai even bet on games that involved the Kings and sometimes he even bet on them to lose. Sources at Yahoo! Stated that Mai had been betting on sports and Kings games for years.

“We take this matter very seriously, and we fully cooperated with the NBA’s investigation,” said a statement released by the Kings. Mai was released by the Kings this year but in his words he says he resigned from his position.
