Problems Leave Sports Bettors Unpaid in Delaware
Officials in Delaware stated yesterday that some gamblers did not get paid on Sunday for their winning parlay bets due to a malfunction in the central computer system. Apparently there was a glitch in the system which caused the players to not get paid.

Wayne Lemons, the director of the Delaware Lottery commented: “There was a little glitch in the system, but payments are being made today.” Lemons went on to say that he was trying to figure out how many winners were not paid on Sunday and other details about the computer problems.

This malfunction is the first problem that the state has seen since they added the sports betting parlays. This is the seventh week that betting has taken place on National Football League games. All three of the casinos in Delaware were unable to pay off some of the winning bets.

Darrell Turner is one of the unpaid winners. On Sunday Turner won about $800 at Delaware Park and tried to collect his winnings around 8pm. the teller told Turner that the machine was not taking the ticket. Turner also stated that about 40 people were in line to collect their winnings.

“A casino employee said they were probably taking a cigarette break because they didn’t want to get abused,’’ Turner said. “He told me I have up to a year to claim my ticket, but this is a state-run lottery. You shouldn't have to wait any time to get paid.’’

Although many were not paid on Sunday it seems as though officials are trying hard to remedy the problem and get the bettors paid as quickly as they can.
