Sports Leagues Still Trying to Stop Sports Betting in Delaware
Several pro sports leagues including the NCAA and the NFL are working hard to stop the state of Delaware from allowing sports betting. The leagues recently tried to get a temporary injunction to stop the sports gambling in the state. The suit was filed Friday and has yet to be approved.

The leagues when to the federal District Court in Wilmington and filed a request to seek to prevent single-game betting on NFL games and any betting on other sports at Delaware’s three racetrack casinos. If the injunction is approved it could stop Delaware from allowing betting on the NFL games which is set to begin on September 10th.

The governor of Delaware Jack Markell stated that the state plans on going forward with their plans to offer sports betting despite the recent filing. Michael Barlow, the legal counsel for Markell commented: “After reviewing the latest challenge from the NFL and other sports leagues, it is clear some form of sports betting will go forward in Delaware. We are now left with the technical legal issue of the type of bets that can be offered.”

It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming days. Will the injunction be passed or will it be denied? It seems as though officials plan on offering gamblers some type of betting option no matter what.
