Stanleybet International is a betting group in the United Kingdom. The company has stated they want all European Community gambling markets to be open, fair and give equal access to companies in the EU member nations. To help with their beliefs the company has decided to launch a new ad campaign called Fair Play For Sports Betting.

Adrian Morris is the campaign director and his first action was to send an open letter to the European Commission. The letter called for a more equitable approach and access to EU markets. The letter went on to address the EC president Jose Manuel Barosso. Morris asked for the president to put an end to further delay caused by political maneuvering. He also asked that the principles of the EU laws on free movement of goods and services between EU member nations be enforced.

Morris wrote in the letter: “Member states continued to act in an unfair, disproportionate and politically motivated way and to deny their citizens access to competitive betting services.” “Rather than following European law, they are seeking to opt out of it. The European Commission, as the defender of the EU Treaty, has not only the legal right to intervene, but, more importantly, the duty to do so.”
