William Hill Being Sued by Graham Calvert
Graham Calvert, a gambling addict that says he told bookmakers to refuse his bets us now suing William Hill for "allowing" him to lose 2 million pounds. Graham Calvert is a greyhound trainer from Tyne and Wear in northeast England that wants William Hill to pay back his losses.After closing his account and asked to be banned from betting, Calvert then says that the firm allowed him to open up another account two months later.
He then went on to make 3.5 million pounds of bets, according to his lawyers, including one disastrous bet of 347,000 pounds punt that was put on the United States to win the 2006 Ryder cup, at the time this was the largest golf bet ever made in history.
The case will open at London's High Court today and the proceedings are expected to last for about five days. William Hill denies any wrongdoing and says that the plan to fight the allegations.
